In the third Season of Artistic virtual art exhibition in 2021, we went from themeless to a theme-based art season where it explored the unrevealed creativity and designs with a spiritual twist from young aspiring artists aged 5 to 16 years and their parents that differ in ethnicity, culture and religious backgrounds of what Ramadan means to them.
The FST aimed to focus on children to boost their self-esteem and mental health post-COVID-19 pandemic, which affected everyone of all ages. Art can help build a range of life skills for children to develop into well-rounded individuals, from thinking of creative ideas to problem solving, to express their emotions artistically as a healing method, to increase hand-eye coordination, teamwork, communication, and better performance at school.
It was part of our first collaboration with a US-based organisation called MAPS – Many Cultures, One Community. We organised a week-long programme for children during the blessed lunar month of Ramadan. To further increase engagement, an art competition took place and was judged by an inspiring Art teacher and Art and Mental Health facilitator, Samiha Akram, who we thank wholeheartedly for going through the artwork to select the winner and runner-up.
We also like to give a special thanks to FST, MAPS-MCOC, respective participants and their parents who were cooperative.
Samiha Akram organises a range of art events and workshops for different age groups. Please follow her on her Instagram to find out more!
