Aim: To discuss the importance of staging and grading and the variation in the grading and staging system per type of cancer. To provide insight into the TNM staging system and how cancers are staged by tumour size, lymph nodes and metastasis and how the histopathologist grades tumours. To understand how some tumours are difficult to grade.
