Mercy On Sudan

Artistic Season 7

Mercy of Sudan poetry anthology is a creative, non-political, and literary art project that advocates for peace and harmony for the people of Sudan.

A range of heartfelt poetry with the hope that it may bring a form of aid for its people in an empathetic manner.

It will be released on 15th April 2026 on World Art Day!

Why poetry?

Sudanese poetry is central in its culture. It dates back to Ancient Nubian times and is marked by a diverse blend of African and Arabian cultural influences.

Many Sudanese poets have discussed the cultural, natural, ethnic, historical, resistance, pain, and devastation of war and conflict, as well as humanitarian crises, in the form of oral and written traditions.

Sudan is…

a North-Eastern African country surrounded by compass-like countries: Egypt to its North, Eritrea and Ethiopia to its East, South Sudan to its South, the Central African Republic (CAR) to the Southwest, and Chad to the West and Libya to the Northwest.

Sudan is…

woven with African and Arab influences that shape its history, culture, traditions, and natural landscapes that bring wonders to the eyes.

It is now one of the world’s worst humanitarian crisis

(BBC, 2023)

Over the past two decades, there were two civil wars and a catastrophic crisis in Western Darfur. Since April 2023, a malicious and bitter battle between the Sudanese Armed Forces (the National army) and Rapid Support Forces has taken place in the capital Khartoum and then escalated to many parts of Sudan. Thousands have died.

Millions have been displaced.

Famine and insecurity have caused a mass healthcare risk.

The list goes on.
