Stoning the Jamarat (10th Dhul Hijjah – Eid al-Adha)
Right now, pilgrims are at the Jamarat, throwing pebbles as they symbolically reject Shaitaan. This act traces back to the legacy of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him), who stood firm when Shaitaan tried to distract him from obeying Allah. With every stone, pilgrims are not just following a ritual; they are declaring resistance against temptation, doubt, and disobedience. Each throw is a reminder: Shaitaan doesn’t always come loudly; sometimes it’s in small whispers (waswasa), small delays, small compromises. And just like the pilgrims, we are also in a daily struggle. To choose salaat over laziness, patience over anger, obedience over desire.
True stoning is not only in Mina, but also in the choices we make every day.
“Indeed, Shaytan is an enemy to you, so take him as an enemy.”
[The Glorious Quran, Surah Fatir (The Originator) 35:6]
