Right now, pilgrims are offering their sacrifice, following the legacy of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him),who showed complete submission to Allah. This moment is not just about the sacrifice itself, but it is also about obedience, trust, and surrender to Allah.
After this, pilgrims cut or shave their hair, a simple yet powerful act symbolising renewal, humility, and a fresh beginning. It is as if they are leaving behind their past and stepping forward purified. Sacrifice teaches us that true sacrifice is not only in what we give, but in what we are willing to let go of for the sake of Allah. Our ego, our bad habits, our attachments to dunya, and so on.
“It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah, but it is piety from you that reaches Him.”
[The Glorious Quran, Surah Al-Hajj (The Pilgrimage) 22:37]
What Can We Do On This Day?
Give charity today, even something small, and reflect on one thing we can sacrifice to become closer to Allah?
