It is performed on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah (Eid al-Adha day) or shortly after. Most pilgrims do it on the 10th, 11th, or 12th of Dhul Hijjah, depending on their schedule in Hajj. Right now, pilgrims are performing Tawaf al-Ifadah, one of the essential pillars of Hajj, circling the Kaaba in devotion and gratitude. This Tawaf comes after the major rites of the 10th of Dhul Hijjah, after stoning, sacrifice, and hair cutting. It is a moment of completion within the journey, where hearts return fully to Allah after fulfilling key acts of obedience. Every step around the Kaaba is filled with reflection: forgiveness sought, duas whispered, and gratitude expressed for being allowed to complete this sacred journey. It reminds us that worship is not just in standing, praying, or sacrificing, but in circling our lives around Allah alone.
“Then let them complete their prescribed duties and perform Tawaf around the Ancient House.”
[The Glorious Quran, Surah Al-Hajj (The Pilgrimage) 22:29]
What Can We Do On This Day?
Take a moment today to reflect on: ‘What is at the centre of my life right now’? And gently ask Allah to make our hearts always turn back to Him, just like pilgrims turn around the Ka’bah, the House of Allah.
